Cake

I have been taking a Wilton cake decorating class and have been having lots of fun. Below is my first Wilton cake. I brought it to a church activity and the kids just loved it!
Below is my 3rd cake. I forgot to take a picture of the 2nd (it had a giant sunflower on it).

So I only made 3 cakes in the class, but became inspired to try some others when I fell in love with a fondant cake at a bakery in the mall. Below is Brice's (my brand new baby cousin) birthday cake.
Steven's birthday cake below is actually the first fondant cake I made. The cake at the bakery was a "Topsy Turvy" cake, where it looks like it is tipping. I just loved it and decided that Steven needed a cake as cool as that for his birthday. I looked up a recipe on-line for marshmallow fondant and about 10 hours of hard manual labor later, whala! Steven has a Topsy Turvy Cake.

Holy Cow, I wish I was there so you could teach me how to do fondant. I have been watching Ace of Cakes at my parents and the things you can do with fondant are amazing! The cakes are amazing, when you guys get out here we are going to have to set up a lesson. I will come wherever I have to to learn, and of course to see you guys!

I love the look of fondant too. I've never actually used it. How does it taste?

Great job on the cakes. They all look great! My favorite is the topsy turvy one.

The cakes look awesome! I especially like Steven's BDay cake. Too bad you aren't in AZ to make a birthday cake for little Kate.

WOW! Your cakes are amazing. Steven's birthday cake and your nephew's cake are my favorites. Of course the one with the roses (which I find so hard to make) is also my favorite. We had a decorating class in Relief Society one time. Cakes are really time consuming to decorate and hard at times. Watching Sarah do hers really tire me out, but they always come out great!
